Meet the Leadership Team

Robert P. Mulligan

President & CEO

Robert, named President & CEO in February 2011, has an extensive background in building and growing employee benefit plans. Previously, he was regional vice president of dental market solutions for United Healthcare Specialty Benefits, where he also held several other senior-level sales and operations positions.

He has also worked for Guardian Life Insurance Company of America as its senior sales executive of large account dental sales, Director of Market Development for First Commonwealth, Inc., and co-founded Optimum Health Inc., an alternative health care network and employee benefits company in Chicago. Robert is a graduate of Binghamton University in New York.

Jeff Kolesar

Chief Operating Officer

Jeff joined Renaissance in 2013 with nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance and employee benefits industry. His responsibilities include overseeing the national group sales and account management teams as well as developing sales and marketing plans to achieve new business objectives. Jeff also oversees Renaissance operations including actuarial, underwriting and call center administration. Previously, he spent more than 12 years with Guardian Life Insurance. Jeff’s extensive experience includes strategic product development, growth and planning for numerous dental and vision products on a national scale.

Tom Dimmer

Vice President, Business Development, Individual Markets & Exchanges

As one of the most successful sales executives working in the dental benefits industry, Tom oversees Renaissance’s national individual sales division and new business development efforts. As an accomplished sales leader with more than 30 years of ancillary insurance experience, Tom thrives at building meaningful partnerships with the nation’s largest private healthcare exchange platforms to market individual dental product solutions. Tom has found great success in creating marketing niches in the B2B2C world and thanks to his efforts the Renaissance Dental brand is online and selling nationally in direct-to-consumer, private and public exchange markets.

John Feeney

Vice President, Group Sales & Market Development

As the Vice President of Group Sales & Market Development, John is responsible for sales growth. With more than 30 years of sales and training experience in New York and Washington, D.C., John has a robust background in marketing employee benefits programs for organizations of all sizes. His mentoring, coaching and development of new and experienced sales professionals is also a focal point of his role at Renaissance. John received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from William Paterson College, and has worked for Guardian Life Insurance Company in New York City. He participated in Maryland Health Underwriters and was a member of GWAHU (Greater Washington Area Health Underwriters) and joined Prospect Street Consulting as the Vice President of Business Development. Throughout his career, John has received numerous awards and designations as a national sales leader.

Carol Egan

Vice President, Product Development

Carol has a vast amount of experience in conducting market research and managing product development. She served in multiple roles at Trustmark Insurance heading Business Development and Corporate Marketing. Before coming to Renaissance, Carol was the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product at Life & Specialty Ventures, a life insurance subsidiary of six independent Blue Cross Blue Shield companies. Carol is a graduate of Bradley University with a degree in Mathematics.

Phyllis Tucker

Vice President, Operations Administration

Starting as Operations Director in 2016, Phyllis brings with her 20 years experience in the insurance and employee benefits industry, where she held a variety of roles in sales, operations, marketing, product development and project management. Previously, she spent 5 years at One America as Vice President of Marketing and Product Development and 10 years with Guardian Life Insurance in various leadership, sales operations and operation roles.

Donald Smith

Vice President, Information Technologies

Donald has a background in both group and individual insurance and has worked in various insurance and information technology roles. His 30 years of insurance experience includes: Operations, Compliance, Product Development, Claims, Underwriting, Reinsurance and Financial Reporting. Donald also has managed and developed systems that support group and individual insurance. Donald received an undergraduate degree in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration with a Concentration in Management Information Systems from the State University of New York.

Tom McInteer

Chief Actuary

Starting as Chief Actuary in January, 2016, Tom brings with him more than 35 years of experience within the U.S. group insurance industry. Tom is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he earned a Fellowship to the Society of Actuaries in 1983. Prior to Renaissance, he spent 24 years with Guardian, fulfilling several roles and ultimately becoming responsible for overall pricing of the entire group product portfolio. In addition, he managed all facets of their multiple dental networks. At Renaissance, Tom is responsible for building an actuarial infrastructure that supports and enables Renaissance growth.

Terry Walsh

Director of Sales, Western Division

Terry is an insurance industry veteran, responsible for exploring growth opportunities for Renaissance’s group insurance sales in new markets. Terry brings more than 30 years of insurance experience to Renaissance, previously with Guardian, where he was one of four regional vice presidents for 15 years. Additionally, he leverages his industry expertise to improve the company’s direct-selling group practice and will be an integral part of the hiring and training process as the company continues to expand its regional sales force.

Chris Adams

Vice President, Marketing, Communications & Philanthropy

Chris is responsible for ensuring effective marketing communications for both group and individual sales divisions as well as overseeing the philanthropic initiatives of the Renaissance Family Foundation.  As a marketing communications expert, Chris excels at finding creative solutions to business challenges. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in advertising from Michigan State University and is experienced with a variety of industries for both B2B and B2C channels. He has worked in the insurance industry for the past 13 years and previously was employed as a Senior Account Executive at Campbell-Ewald Advertising Agency.
